UKT Celebrates 10 Years of Community at a Memorable Anniversary Event

Umoja Kenya Townsville (UKT) proudly celebrated its 10-year anniversary with a vibrant and well-attended event held at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium. The milestone celebration brought together community members and friends from Kenya, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, Benin, and Australia, reflecting the rich diversity and strong multicultural connections fostered by UKT over the past decade.

The event featured powerful speeches highlighting the remarkable growth of Umoja Kenya Townsville and its critical role in solidifying and strengthening the Kenyan community in Townsville. A standout moment was the address by Dominic Owato, the ICT Director, whose speech provided a concise yet impactful overview of the association’s history, achievements, and future direction.

Attendees were fully engaged throughout the celebration, enjoying delicious food, meaningful conversations, and energetic cultural dances that showcased unity, pride, and shared heritage. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, capturing the spirit of togetherness that defines UKT.

To preserve this important milestone, copies of the ICT Director’s speech and a presentation highlighting the various office bearers from the association’s inception are attached to

this blog post for reference and reflection. These documents provide valuable insight into UKT’s journey and leadership over the years.

The 10-year anniversary was both a celebration of past accomplishments and a reaffirmation of UKT’s commitment to unity, growth, and community building.
